Shaik also plans to showcase some of her favorite products that she has purchased from Amazon amid her pregnancy, including Belly Buds.
"My boyfriend is in the music industry so the development of hearing music, and bonding as well, is really quite nice and interesting," she said of the headphones that pregnant women can place on their stomachs.

During pregnancy it's so easy to get caught up in the aches and pains, morning sickness and preggo brain, that we tend to forget the beauty and grace pregnancy has to offer. If you are anything like me when I was pregnant, I certainly felt like I fell off the wagon when it came to my meditation and yoga practices. Whether you are new to meditation and yoga or you've been practicing meditation, mindfulness and yoga for a while; below are my top 3 favorites that will support you in connecting to yourself, your precious baby and the beautiful process you are undergoing.
When you wake and roll over in bed, take a moment to place your hands on your tummy and say "Good Morning" to your little one. This is a wonderful time to connect before you start your day. You can use this time to make a wish, say a prayer, set and intention or simply 'cuddle' with your belly and baby.
This is one of my favorite poses. It helps relax the lower back, slowly opens your hips and allows your arms to get a good stretch as well. It’s also a great “take a break” pose. Use this when pure exhaustion creeps in and all you want to do is take a nap! As your belly grows bigger towards the last trimester, you can tuck your toes under and create more space. Remember to relax, breathe and totally surrender in this pose.
Whether you are pregnant or not, this is one of the most powerful tools you can use throughout your day. As often as you need, slow down and take 3 full, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth... releasing any tension, stress or hormonal craziness you may feel. Then smile after you complete your 3 breaths. It feels really good!
Remember that this is your journey and you get to decide how it goes. It can be stressful and uncomfortable or it can be gentle, loving and precious. You can do it “Mom.” You were made for this. Honor your body, mind and soul. Enjoy the process. And give gratitude for the miracle that is.

*Be sure to save and print this checklist to help you prepare for baby!
With this printable hospital bag checklist, you will be well prepared for your time in the hospital. Congratulations from the WavHello Team!
]]>1. Easy Pose - Sukhasana
Begin by coming into a comfortable cross-legged position. Allow your palms to face up or down on your thighs. Then bring your palms to your belly, close your eyes, and begin to take long, deep breaths in and out through your nose. Stay here for at least 1 minute, allowing your breath to become steady and rhythmic.
2. Cross-Legged Twist - Parivrtta Sukhasana
Try this cross-legged twist for the first trimester. Start on the floor with your legs comfortably crossed. On inhale, bring your arms up. As you exhale, bring your right arm behind you and place your left arm on your right leg. Drawing from your rib cage, shoulders, and neck, twist ever so gently to your right and leave you're belly and hips facing forward. After five or six breaths, repeat on the other side.
(Closed twists, on the other hand, should be avoided as they squish the uterine area.)
3. Sufi Rolls
Take both hands to your knees and begin to draw big circles with your chest around the midline. On each inhalation, bring your heart and chest forward; on each exhalation, draw your chest back. You can make the circles as wide or small as you like. Take 5–10 rotations in one direction, then repeat 5–10 rotations in the other direction.
4. Sitting Side Bends
With your eyes open extend one arm out to the side with your hand on the ground. Reach your opposite arm overhead, palm facing the midline, and lean over toward your extended arm. While in the side bend, breathe deeply and lift the bottom of your waist toward the sky to prevent compression of your lower back and abdomen. Open your side and chest and take 3–5 deep breaths, then repeat on the other side.
5. Warrior Pose II - Virabhadrasana II
Stand with your feet about 4 feet apart, parallel to one another. Turn your right leg outward 90 degrees and bend your right knee, moving toward stacking it above your ankle. If your knee extends beyond your toes, widen your feet. Extend your arms parallel to your mat, and gaze to the front or over your right fingertips, whichever feels most comfortable. Take 5–10 deep breaths here, then repeat on the other side.
End with a Seated Meditation
Sit crossed legged and open your arms so they are parallel to the floor, with your palms facing up. Firm your triceps, then begin to flip your palms, downward then up, creating a rhythm. Do this for a minimum of 2 minutes, increasing the length of this exercise by 30-second intervals as you build strength. It should feel challenging to keep your arms parallel to the ground; this exercise is designed to help you mentally prepare for labor. Once you’re finished, rest your hands on your thighs and slow your breathing down until you are ready to end your practice.
Remember to discuss any new exercises or routines with your obstetrician.
]]>1. Traveling 101
Whether you may be flying or driving this holiday season we have complied our favorite travel essentials and tips for traveling with baby. Our favorite go to item for travel is a sound soother like our SoundBub to help sooth and calm baby while drowning out background noises. Travel light, we know that sounds crazy traveling light with a baby yeah right! We mean traveling light by only bringing the essentials, your must haves, baby blanket, and baby clothing. Traveling light will help ease the stress of trying to manage so many bags and extra weight that may not be needed!
2. Keep The Holidays Low Key
Lowering your holiday expectations with a new baby will help you enjoy this time with your new addition. Instead of trying to bake, shop, and getting exhausted by all of the holiday events and gatherings enjoy the time with your newborn. Being able to soak up all of the newborn baby bliss is the most important thing during the holidays, enjoy this time as your baby will grow up faster than you can imagine!
Pro Tip: Create a list of things you want to do with your new family that are high priorities. Adding a couple of new traditions that you can carry on as family from year to year are some of our favorite holiday activities. Pick one or two of the most meaningful activities from your list, and try to accomplish those! Anything you do above and beyond those items are a bonus.
3. Ask For Help When You Need It
As a mom and a new mom we think we can handle and do everything ourselves, from feedings, baths, snuggling, and loving your newborn baby we know it can be a lot especially during the holidays. Ask for help when you need it! Creating a circle of people you trust to watch your baby creates a strong social bond of people you can lean on when help may be needed. Family, friends, and others are sure to be happy to help mom out when needed. It is just as important to take care of yourself so that you can take care of baby. It is a win win for everybody, you get some much needed help for chores, shopping, running errands or perhaps some much needed rest and the caretaker gets to enjoy baby!
Pro Tip: It is always great to have a social network group to be able to ask for help. You can always return the favor and watch friends children too!
4. Go With The Flow
Sometimes things do not go as planned and that is ok. Preparing for the holidays in advance can be stressful, but be sure to remain flexible in your planning. It is important to be able to go with the flow of things and be able to adjust your planning when needed. Often time parents who have high expectations struggle to overcome the unplanned circumstances. Being able to remain flexible in your plans will help you enjoy your time!
5. Enjoy The Holiday Magic
Being a new family, it is most important to soak up these moments with your new baby. Taking note of all of the small things that matter most are helpful to help you enjoy and cherish this holiday season. Enjoy the magic of the holidays with the magic of your new baby!
Pro Tip: Keeping a journal or notebook around to jot down little moments you wish to remember, actives you did for the first time as a family, or writing down new traditions is a great way to remember your first holiday season with baby.

My boobs are quite the adventurous bunch, anxious to get out there and see what this world has to offer. They explored 40 countries when they were young, wild and free. And once they were saddled with the responsibility of keeping other beings alive, they got to see 42 more countries along the way. I think it’s safe to they’re the true Mrs.. and Mrs. Worldwide.
So what was it like to breastfeed in 42 different countries across 4 continents? Drafty! From nursing in front of family members over the holidays to mosques in Oman, I learned quite a bit from exposing myself in various environments and cultures where the end goal wasn’t the acquisition of Mardi Gras beads.
Going Under Cover - like Smokey the Bear, my boobs are all about enjoying the environment while not starting fires, cultural or other. I don’t cover up to nurse all the time, but I definitely found it helpful to use a nursing cover in religious environments such as mosques or churches, countries where women were more modestly dressed like in the Middle East, and on Football Sunday where my dad would love to see a little more NFL and a little less NIP. So I’m all about freeing the nipple, but also freeing myself from potentially offending others in cultural settings that are unfamiliar to me.
Reality Bites - liquids go in and out of babies at the most inopportune times. So, while I’ll avoid flashing the masses by using a cover, the reality is that when the baby’s hungry, I’m going to nurse and I’m not going to feel bad about it. Whether it be in a stall at a Moroccan souk or midway up a hike in the ancient city of Petra, there’s never a time I’ll refuse some calories being sucked off me. Getting over any level of embarrassment or awkwardness about the situation was key to ensuring the baby stayed full and my boobs stayed empty, regardless of time zone.
The Two Musketeers - all for one and one for all. Motherhood is as uniting as it is dividing, isn’t it? You may not raise your kids the same as your sibling or as the mothers in your neighboring country, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t relate to one another. We’re all knee deep in keeping mammals alive using any methods we see fit. This newfound common bond with other mothers who are so different from myself is something I love to experience. At the end of the day, hungry babies transcend all languages and time zones, and we can all unify under an umbrella of exhaustion and a single-minded focus to soothe a screaming child.
Luckily, my boobs have never been weighed at the airport check-in counter and I’ve been able to carry them on to all our adventures without baggage fees. That being said, I feel my rack should be allowed to rack-up airline miles given all their time in the sky! So don’t be afraid to take your girls out for a spin this holiday season, whether it be to far away family or far away lands. There’s plenty of ways to enjoy breastfeeding on the go!
]]>Here at WavHello, we believe in the power of music. Its power to uplift, to form memories, and most importantly to connect. The holiday season has the same power to bring people together in the most joyful of ways. Of course, that makes holiday music a no-brainer when it comes to connecting with those you love to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.
To help your family make the most of this wonderful time, we compiled a playlist of timeless holiday favorites! So get out your Bluetooth speaker and get ready to jam out to your favorite songs of the holiday season. Whether you're decorating your Christmas tree or baking for your neighborhood cookie swap, these tunes will surely get you and your family into the holiday spirit! Take a look at the lyrics to some of your favorite holiday tunes by clicking the album art below.
You just brought your bundle of joy home from the hospital (eek!). You’ve read every article on feeding and burping, and made sure you have every single item from the latest “Bringing Baby Home” checklist. However, there might be something that slipped through the cracks of your preparation, something far more important than your choice in swaddling blankets: your words.
That’s right. Get ready to talk more than you’ve ever talked before (unless you’re like me and that’s impossible because you never stop talking). In your little one’s first three years of life, their brain will triple in size, and in that time, most of their sensory experiences are coming from your home. Unlike all the other organs we are born with, the brain's key stages of development occur after birth - and that development relies on stimulation and environment.
Extensive research done by psychologists Betty Hart and Todd Risley, authors of Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Experiences of Young American Children, in 1995 indicates that talking and reading to your child from ages 0-3 years has the greatest impact on their development and education level later in life. In fact, children from more talkative households with a more extensive vocabulary are said to have heard 30 million more words by the time they reach three years of age; and those same children are shown to have scored higher in tests of reading and cognitive development by the third grade.
So how do you make sure you're talking to your baby enough? To help you help your little one, we've compiled a list of ways for you verbally interact with your child every day.
Sure, reading an encyclopedia might buff your baby's brain to Johnny Bravo levels, but those words lack connection. Instead, opt to tell your baby a story; whether its a fictional tale of two little bunnies or a story from your favorite childhood memory. Stuck on what story to tell? Log into our free VoiceShare app and enter our "Talk" section for storytelling prompts. You can even record those stories and play it back to your little one later!
Have your child sit next to you or on your lap while reading to them. Give your child time to look at the pictures, and (if age appropriate) ask them to point to different characters/objects in the book. The newest version of our VoiceShare app allows you to read and record books, and follow along within the app.
Both vocal expression and physical gestures will help your child to grasp the emotional connection to your words. Playing face-to-face with your little also one allows them to see your facial expressions up close and connect your words to their meaning.
Tired of talking? Sing to your little one! The repetition of words in songs will help your child to become more familiar with those words and their meanings. Use the "Sing" function in our new VoiceShare app, where you can sing your child's favorite lullabies karaoke style with the lyrics and instrumental music there to help you along the way - so you can finally get those lullaby words right.
So get ready to settle in at home with your newest confidante, speech critic, and story monger, because their all ears and they'll thank you for it later.

If you have just had a baby first off congratulations, having a new baby is such an exciting time but, going from pregnancy to postpartum is a big change and taking care of yourself is just as important as your new baby. The postpartum period is usually defined as the six weeks following childbirth which is a fundamental time for your family, yourself and your newborn baby. Following childbirth, you will begin to experience many changes.
After having a baby your world changes especially if you are a new mother. Adjusting to motherhood can have its ups and downs. Taking care of your newborn baby is important but caring for yourself during the postpartum period is important too!
Allowing time to get into your new “normal” routine will take place after delivery but especially when you bring your newborn home. Once you are home and settled you can start establishing a routine that works for your new family. Having a newborn means they have to be fed and changed often which means you could be getting little sleep which can be frustrating for the time being but keep in mind that soon enough they will be sleeping through the night. In the meantime be sure to do these things as much as possible:
Get as much sleep as possible to make up for your lack of sleep during the nights and feedings. We have all heard this and there is a reason for that, sleep when your baby sleeps. This helps you catch up for sleep you are missing.
Making sure you are eating a healthy diet can help your body heal. Childbirth is extremely hard, so giving your body the nutrients it needs is important. Increase your vegetable, fruit and protein consumption. Make sure to keep hydrated especially if you are breast-feeding by increasing your water and fluid intake.
After birth, your doctor will let you know when you are cleared for working out. Exercise after birth should be easy such as taking walks around your home. Fresh air and getting out of the house can help clear your mind and increase energy.

Tis’ the season to be jolly or crafty because why not? Who doesn’t love some great crafting especially DIY’s that you can hang on to for you little ones to give them down the road.
]]>Now grab your hot cocoa and let’s go.
Buy a set of glass bulbs, or plastic (kids am I right), brown paint and red paint, and a sharpie and your set.
These are a classic. Using this salt dough recipe you can create a cute little Santa and Reindeer with your child's' hand and footprint. These are a great way to preserve those tiny little hands and feet.
How cute are these little stick trees? These are super easy and can help your kids get used to tying knots!
*Pro Tip you can also use cinnamon sticks instead of a stick for these trees!
We all have a couple of these in our kitchen drawers. Repurpose your mason jar lids into the perfect holiday wreath. Use different ribbons or rope to make yours even more special to hang on your tree.
Buy or make wood slices for these ornaments. These are a classic Santa face ornament for your tree. Buy red, white and black to use to paint the hat, eyes, and beard. Adding a red pom-pom as the nose is a super cute option!
We hope you love these handcrafted ornaments to make with your little ones as much as we do. Give these as gifts or keep them for the years to come. The holidays are always best spent with the ones you love doing things you love. Happy Holidays from everyone at WavHello!

]]>Traveling alone is a lot different from traveling with a family. What used to take an hour to pack and get to the airport sure takes a lot longer now!
Airport tips:
Make sure that when you are traveling with your family you arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare in case something unplanned arrises. Take it SLOW, we know it’s hard to contain all of the travel excitement, but being able to have ample time to spare will cut the rush to the airport and ease anxiety and your pre-travel jitters!
Flying is just one example of taking it slow, making sure to leave extra time applies to all parts of your trip.
Pro Tip:
Keep an open schedule and plenty of room to change plans. A flexible schedule will be less stress for you and your family. The less stress the better!
We know this is a hard task to accomplish. Try to remember that more is less when traveling with the family. Packing for the family can be hard, we tend to think that we need everything we use at home, and too many clothes. Packing lightly and only what is necessary will make traveling with the family much easier.
The less you bring means the easier it is to pack and the less amount of luggage you have to transport and carry that is a win- win!
Packing must:
Planning in advance will make the trip run more smoothly. Talk to your family about things they all want to do on your trip and then book those actives ahead. This gives everyone something to look forward to as well as pre-arranged stress free plans.
Setting up plans in advance doesn’t just involve flights, car travel plans, and where you are lodging. Anything that you can book ahead of time will help you get the most of your trip, without having to worry about what you will be doing next.
Pro Tip:
Items that you can book ahead of time include transportation, tours, monument sightseeing, local attractions, museums etc. You can pre-arrange and book as many as you will need ahead of time. We love getting the whole family on board when planning these activities and must-sees!
When you are traveling with children you will often find discounts and promotions on everything from transportation to restaurants.
When you are booking you may find child pricing on the website be sure to take advantage of these discounts as they will save you a lot of money in the long run. If discounts are not on the booking site ask or send an email ahead of time with a simple injury if they offer any kind of discounts for children. You will never know if you don’t ask, so don’t be afraid to ask best bet is that you will end up saving.
Good gear makes traveling with a family much easier. Travel cribs, luggage and strollers can add up quickly. It is worth spending up for durable lightweight gear, the bulkier the items the more of a hassle travel will be. An extra five pounds when traveling can feel like twenty. Keeping gear simple is the best route especially when you are traveling on a long flight or road trip!
Happy Traveling from the WavHello team!
]]>Let’s talk about diapers, diaper bags and all things potty related. First let’s talk about which kind of diapers to use. There are a couple main options, cloth or disposable diapers. Both are great options and that will be up to you to decide. There are some amazing cloth diaper brands out there that make it WAY easier than it use to be (heck yeah). If cloth isn’t your cup of tea there are so many amazing disposable diaper options as well and just like cloth diapers brands are excelling in making them better for your baby, the environment and more.
Whatever you may decide to use, stock up! This is not a drill your going to need to stock up, and then stock up your stock pile! By the time your baby's a week old, they will be having at least four to six wet diapers each day. For your baby shower we love the idea of asking attendees to bring a bundle of diapers with them and then be entered into a raffle prize during the shower, this is a win win and a great way to start stocking up on diapers! You'll also need a diaper pail with a tight-fitting lid for all of those diapers you will be going through.
Now let’s talk abut a diaper bag. We love all of the different options of diaper bags that are available from chic purse diaper bags, adorable backpacks to your standard diaper bag there is an option for everyone.
Now that your baby is home you can start bathing them by giving them sponge baths until their umbilical cord falls off and heals. After your baby loses their umbilical cord you can start bathing them with a safe baby bath tub.
Being prepared for the first cold or a small injury is important when preparing for your baby, making a small basket full of these items in the nursery or a medicine cabinet in the bathroom will ensure you are ready when these items are needed.
Before your baby arrives, you can come up with a feeding plan and if you are going to breastfeed, use formula or both. Making sure you have the proper support system is important for your feeding plan and the items you will need for it. Remember that there are always challenges and ups and downs when it comes time to feeding your new baby, establishing a great latch, feeding schedule, and that new feeding bond. Stay strong and keep up the amazing work mama, just know feed is always best!
Now for some fun. It is always so exciting to start decorating your baby's new room, but make sure when it is time to style the crib it is as bare as possible. All you need for the crib is a firm mattress and a snug fitting crib sheet
When your arms are tired or you need a little reset from all of those snuggles there are some options for you and baby, so you can still use your hands!
Now on to baby clothing, we know the cutest clothing ever, the tutus, baby flannels, dresses, oh and those pajama sets (can’t stop won’t stop), but there is no need to buy too many newborn clothes. Your baby will grow out of them faster than you think!
So far so good we just have a couple more items that will complete your newborn prepping.
YAY you did it, now you are ready to prep and welcome your precious little one!
]]>Sleeping with a little one can be hard, but getting them to sleep can be harder. We have complied our favorite tips for getting you new little to sleep like a little angel!
]]>Sleeping with a little one can be hard, but getting them to sleep can be harder. We have complied our favorite tips for getting your new little to sleep like a little angel!
Melation aka the sleep hormone isn’t fully produced in your new baby until around 12 weeks old. What does this mean? This means that your new little one does not have a sleeping schedule until that 12 week mark. During the day make sure your newborn is getting plenty of daylight and if you notice that nap time is going a little long (we know we know.. you don’t wanna wake them) but wake them up for a feed if nap time is longer than 3 or so hours.
Daytime schedules are just as important as nighttime schedules, maintain a sleeping schedule during the day as well!
Keep it dark and the lighting dim to help your baby understand that the night time is for sleeping. When you are up feeding during the night keep the lighting dim.
Before you go to sleep yourself wake your baby for a feeding, you will be filling up your babies tummy before laying down yourself which may let everyone get a little bit more sleep (yay). You can try this for a few days to see if your baby sleeps a little longer during the night.
White noise is your best friend. It is difficult for babies to go from a noisy womb to complete silence at night. Fans, white noise machines (like SoundBub) can help to become a sleep cue when putting your baby down to sleep.
Try not to wait until your baby is asleep to put them in their crib as it is harder for them to learn to self sooth themselves when they wake up. Sticking to a routine such as a story, lullaby and white noise can get them ready to catch sweet dreams.
This blog post is only topic related tips and suggestions. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider if you child is having trouble sleeping or for any other medial related advice

]]>At WavHello, we believe in the positive influence of music on our littles. In 2009, co-founder Curtis Williams invented our first product, BellyBuds, as a way of bonding with his first daughter in utero. These specially designed baby bump speakers gently adhere to mom’s tummy and safely play music to baby in the womb!
Since the release of this product, many parents have told us that the prenatal music they played for their baby in utero still soothes them after they are born. Check out our interview with real mom Michele who used BellyBuds during her pregnancy meditation sessions and now their son, nicknamed “chill bill”, is still soothed by those calming tunes today.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. This article, originally posted on nytimes.com, discusses an exciting study conducted by Finnish researchers that suggests that babies in the womb can not only hear melodies, they also recognize them after they’re born.
For the study, published online by PLOS One, Finnish researchers divided 24 pregnant women into two groups. Five times a week, the “learning group” played a CD that included a one-minute rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” which the unborn children heard an average of 170 times before birth. The control group did not hear the recording.
Then the scientists did EEG tests on the children at birth and again at 4 months as they listened to the original tune and a version in which several notes were altered.
The learning group had a larger response to the melody than the control group did, and the difference was still apparent at 4 months. And the amplitude of response to the changed melody correlated with the number of times the infants were exposed to the original melody in utero.
The lead author, Eino Partanen, a researcher at the University of Helsinki, urged parents not to make too much of the finding. “A baby can be relaxed and soothed by melodies it hears before birth,” he said. “But there is no evidence that it will get your baby into Harvard.”

]]>Expecting Parents, beware! If this is your first time with a bun in the oven, you will quickly learn that building your baby registry can be a source of major headaches. Where do I register for baby? What items does baby actually NEED? What items can we wait to buy? The list of questions quickly builds up.
While we’ve tackled the last two questions in our previous blog highlighting an essential baby registry checklist containing all basic items to buy before baby comes, we would like to focus on helping you find a baby registry that is perfect for you!
We compared and analyzed the best baby registries out there to bring you the pros and cons of each. While building our Top 5 list, we found that not all registries are created equal. You be the judge: did your experience match our list below? Tag @wavhello in a post on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to let us know what we are missing!
If you do most of your shopping online, look no further than Amazon. Not only does Amazon have arguably one of the largest selections of products on planet Earth, their prices are most often the cheapest. Not to mention that free 2-day shipping for Prime members. But what if you find an item that is somehow not available on Amazon? No worries. Amazon uses what’s called a universal registry, which means that you can add any item from any website to your list no problem. As an added perk, parents-to-be get 10% off all items not purchased (15% if you register with Amazon Family).
The only downside (and a minor one at that) is that it’s not as easy for gift givers to go in store and actually touch and see the products before purchasing. Amazon does allow shoppers to print registries so they can find items in store, but they will have to go back to the Amazon registry to mark the item as purchased. For some of your more traditional family members, this may be too tech savvy to pull off.

With thousands of stores nationwide, your loved ones most likely have a Target conveniently located close-by. Target has a great selection on all things baby, with great prices on their Up & Up label. Like Amazon, Target Registry can be an all-in-one list; many parents-to-be appreciate not having to set up more than one registry. Target also offers 15% off all items left on your list. Not to mention their Welcome Kit you can pick up at the nearest location with $50 worth of coupons and handpicked samples…yes please!
Although Target does have a leg-up on Amazon in that loved ones can shop either online or in-store (a plus when picking up a last minute gift on the way to your shower), their selection varies so much from store to store that it can be frustrating to find the items on your list. That’s why many suggest setting up your Target Registry online to gain access to a wider selection of items.
To set up your Target Baby Registry, click HERE
This comprehensive baby store is owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond, so you know that those notorious 20% discount coupons you receive in the mail will definitely come in handy here for some big savings. In line with the registries mentioned above, Buy Buy Baby also offers 10% off all the items on your registry that were not purchased, but you won’t receive those coupons until after your due date. Many moms also reported that they have AMAZING customer service and a slightly larger selection than Babies R Us, so this registry is definitely worth looking into.
The downside? Buy Buy Baby doesn’t have nearly as many store locations as Target, so finding one that’s close may be a bit of a challenge. They also don’t have near the selection of Amazon, with prices that tend to be more expensive overall.
Click here to register at Buy Buy Baby
Babies R Us is likely the most well-known baby retail store. Many parents love registering at this store because it’s a one-stop shop: you can find anything from big-ticket items for nursery to small items such as swaddling blankets. They do offer a 10% discount for anything you did not receive on your registry, to be used online or in-store. In addition to their completion discount, parents can also enjoy 5-10% back on items purchased. It has been reported that the biggest perk is their generous return policy which allows for returns up to 1 year after purchase; much longer than any other registry.
While Babies R Us may not have the selection that Amazon has and higher prices overall, they do offer price match (in-store only) on the items they do carry.
Set up your Babies R Us registry HERE
While this registry does not make every Top 5 list, we included it because of the convenience of their universal registry that is accessible from desktop and mobile devices. Remember that universal registries allow parents-to-be to register for any item found on the web. You can even ‘register’ for items that are not store bought, like home cooked meals from friends and family.
As with Amazon, this registry may frustrate those traditional gift-givers who like to shop in-store. Baby List does, however, allow shoppers to “reserve” items on your list and purchase at a store location, but if they do not actually purchase you may end up without that item. They also do not offer a completion discount, so you won’t be receiving any coupons from Baby List for the items left on your registry.
Get started with Baby List
Don’t forget to add BellyBuds baby bump speakers to your baby registry! Available on our website as well as Amazon, Target, and Buy Buy Baby, they can be easily added to your list no matter which platform you choose! BellyBuds safely play music (and voice messages!) to the womb, and anyone you love can record and share content with baby via our free VoiceShare mobile app! Also keep an eye out for our SoundBub Bluetooth enabled speaker and soother, coming Summer 2016!
]]>Any first-time parent knows the struggle. After skimming countless blogs, asking friends and wandering through aisle after aisle of the Target baby section, you feel no closer to finding out what items your baby actually NEEDS. And because many recommendations come underlined with a little bit of judgment and a whole lot of parenting advice; many moms and dads start assembling their baby registry list feeling overwhelmed.
You’re not alone! To get you started, we have assembled this newborn checklist filled with all the basic items that you will need for your little one! Reference the graphic below (even print and bring it to the store with you!) when building your registry to make sure that you have all your bases covered before baby comes.
And don’t forget to pamper mom-to-be in the process; not every item you register for has to 100% practical! Let people buy items that you wouldn’t buy for yourself, like a spa gift card or even BellyBuds baby bump speakers to share music and messages with baby during pregnancy! After your newest addition has arrived, all of the focus will be on them (as it should be), so make sure that you remember to register for items now that will help mom with this big change!

WavHello is encouraging expecting moms-to-be to get outside and stay active! Exercising during pregnancy can help you feel better, potentially decrease your pushing time, help you recover more easily after baby and (last but not least!) prepare your body for life as a busy mama. With so many myths and opinions flying around, it is hard to know which exercises are best (and safe!) for mama and baby and which to stay away from. That’s why we called in prenatal fitness expert and creator of Knocked–Up Fitness, Erica Ziel, to fill us in on the perfect fit pregnancy ideas. Read our interview with Erica below, complete with a full workout routine that you can follow from home!
Ideally you should aim to workout 30 minutes most days of the week. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise during pregnancy, but I highly recommend including resistance training exercises, such as weight training and my Pilates-Infused style exercises. You’ll find those elements in all my workouts to help keep you strong!
BellyBuds® baby bump speakers are great to use during long walks! Think of BellyBuds as headphones for a pregnant belly; they move and stay with you while you exercise. They also come with a splitter so that you and baby can listen to the same music during your workout.
Here are 5 wonderful exercises you can do anytime, anywhere and with little to no equipment. It’s important to listen to your body as baby grows and your body changes. You can turn these into a full-body workout by following my recommended reps and order below, or repeating them 2 to 4 times for a very effective at-home workout!
*Be sure your physician has approved you for exercises before beginning any exercise program
The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends avoiding movements that are jarring, high impact or sports where you change direction quickly. As your ligaments become more lax due to the hormone relaxin, there could be an increase in your body’s susceptibility to injury.
I know many mamas want to know about running – personally I didn’t run during any of my three pregnancies because it just didn’t feel right for me. So I listened to my body and did a lot of walking {and strength training and Pilates} instead! I do know many mamas run through much of their pregnancy and if your doctor is okay with you running and it feels good for your body - go for it!

]]>This blog was written for WavHello by spiritual coach Elyse Falzone from Awaken Your Soul. We teamed up with her to provide the best (and safest!) yoga poses for pregnant moms to help them get into a healthy routine. For more of her tips on pregnancy yoga and meditation, sign up to receive our free 20 Weeks to Bliss email series!
Without a doubt, yoga is a powerful practice to release stress, strengthen the body, connect to self and create balance and alignment in life. Add being pregnant, and the positive benefits of a prenatal yoga practice continue to add up.
As your body changes with the pregnancy, there are sore muscles, balance issues and all kinds of bizarre thought patterns that become a normal part of life. Yoga during pregnancy relieves some of those aches, supports in peace of mind and allows your body to stretch, which creates more space in your belly for your growing baby. Prenatal yoga can also ease the labor and delivery experience.
These 5 yoga poses are great to use in the comfort of your own home, with some other pregnant girlfriends or when you attend a prenatal yoga class.
Labor and delivery is coming! Preparing your body to do what it does is so valuable. This supported yoga squat does just that. You can use yoga blocks or a stack of towels to allow extra support.
This pose supports in waking up your body. Whether you have been sitting at a desk or you have had a sluggish day, move your body into this pose. Fully extend your top arm to feel that stretch from your fingers to your toes.
With its wide stance and full body extension, you will find yourself with more balance and strength. When you feel tense or a little out of control, this is a great go -to pose. Extend your energy and breath to the ground and to the sky.
Regain composure and feel grounded once again. Tree pose is so powerful to bring you back to Earth! Sometimes those hormones can get a little crazy, but tree pose brings focus, balance and grounded energy your way. Practicing this pose on a regular basis will support your transition of balance as your belly continues to grow.
Now that you have an array of poses that will support you during pregnancy, it’s time to get to it! Stretch, strengthen and relax. Enjoy your body as it shifts and changes. Let your body lead you to the pose that’s right for you in each moment. Continue to breathe through each pose and know you are offering love and support to you and your baby.
*Please consult with your doctor or OB before practicing yoga.]]>Did you know that a well-balanced diet is just as important to staying healthy during pregnancy as being active? Chia seeds contain fiber and omega-3 fats, which have been proven to help prevent pregnancy depression. Chia seeds also help slow down the absorption of sugar, which will help inhibit the amount of sugar your baby absorbs. Add Chia seeds to your favorite greek yogurt bowl, smoothie, cereal, or even salad!
Eating skinless lean meat, such as chicken or turkey, is a great way for you to feel satisfied and hold on to lean muscle mass. 71 grams of lean protein is a healthy intake, as it will help you with the physical demands of pregnancy. Easy ways to incorporate lean meat in your diet can be a grilled chicken salad, turkey club sandwich, or even a simple meal of grilled chicken with quinoa and veggies.
Prunes are filled with fiber and can help your digestive system run smoothly. A healthy amount of fiber can even prevent the risk of developing preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can bring adverse side effects, such as high blood pressure, swollen feet, and protein in urine. A serving size of 5 prunes has 3 grams of fiber. Pregnant moms should aim for 25 grams of fiber daily. Add prunes to an almond milk and banana smoothie or to your favorite oatmeal.
Spinach contains folic acid. During pregnancy, folic acid can help prevent your unborn baby from developing birth defects such as cleft palate, spina bifida, and cleft lip. Incorporate spinach in a sautéed mushroom spinach salad or strawberry almond spinach salad. Also, if you hate the taste of spinach, mask it in a banana, strawberry, orange, and spinach smoothie. Just add water and ice, and mix all ingredients in a blender.
Lentils are filled with iron, fiber, folic acid, healthy minerals, protein and vitamin B. Add lentils to creamy soups or salads to provide you and your baby a powerful handful of nutrients.
Lean cuts of top sirloin steak are filled with good protein, B12, B6, niacin, iron, and zinc and can help your baby with cognitive development. Add lean-cut steak to your favorite salad, stir fry, pasta, or chili.
Berries are a great source of Vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and folic acid -- and they provide amazing benefits, such as protecting cells from damage. Use berries as an oatmeal or a cereal topper, in a berry smoothie or a Greek yogurt parfait.
Broccoli provides benefits, such as helping with healthy vision and balancing normal blood pressure. Broccoli is also packed with Vitamin A minerals, which can help bone growth and strengthen your immune system.
Cheese provides concentrated amounts of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous for your unborn baby to grow strong bones. Eat reduced-fat cheeses to reduce cholesterol and calorie intake. Enjoy cheese as a snack on a whole-grain cracker, as a pairing with grapes or in an egg-white omelet.
Eggs are a great source of protein and amino acids for you and baby-to-be. Also, eggs provide omega-3 fats that babies need to help develop their brain and enhance their vision. Enjoy eggs in an omelet or frittata. Also, hardboiled eggs cut up in a salad can be an extra treat!
Orange juice can be a quick and easy way to receive calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, potassium, and folic acid. Enjoy orange juice plain, in a strawberry and banana smoothie, or as a frozen popsicle.
Salmon is a great source of protein, vitamin B, and omega-3 fats that can help promote brain development and vision for your little one. Enjoy salmon grilled, smoked or broiled.
Sweet potatoes contain Vitamin C, fiber, and large amounts of potassium. Roast sweet potatoes in a 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve as a side dish with any dinner.
Wholes grains contain fiber, vitamin B, iron, folic acid, and zinc. Enjoy whole grains by eating whole-grain oatmeal, brown rice, or whole-grain crackers paired with cheese for a delicious snack.
Pumpkin seeds are filled with magnesium and iron. They also are a great source of omega-3 and protein. Omega-3 helps with your baby’s eye and brain development. Pumpkin seeds are a great snack, salad, or soup topper.
Hummus is packed with protein and low in fat. This superfood helps moms lower their glycemic levels when paired with a higher glycemic food, such as crackers or bread.
Figs contain natural antioxidants, fiber, calcium and magnesium, which can help prevent constipation. Pair figs with a salad or eat them plain!
Peas are a great source of protein, calcium, magnesium, and folic acid. Peas are easily absorbed by our bodies and are packed with Vitamin C. Peas are great for a travel snack. Lightly coat them in olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and provide pregnant women with probiotics / healthy bacteria. Probiotic foods help with combating unhealthy bacteria and reduce risk of prenatal infection, early labor, and allergies for your baby.
]]>Making the trek to Santa's Village so that your littles can meet Mr. Claus is a time-honored Christmas tradition. The goal? That perfect photo featuring the kids with big smiles sitting on Santa's lap; all in the adorable Christmas outfits you wrestled them into and bribed them not to take off. Reality sets in as you approach the big man in red; a feeling many parents before you have experienced time and again. The pure joy, awe, and sometimes even terror that ensues is priceless.
We asked our WavHello parents to submit their best #BabyMeetsSanta photos, and the response was overwhelming. Keep reading for our Top 10 picks!
The holidays are really about one thing. Strip away the dinner, decorations and presents you get the most important aspect: friends and family. As a mom, there may be added pressure to gather everyone together as this is the one time of year that your littles can interact with the entire family. But what if you can’t be near the ones you love this holiday season? That question is the motivation behind WavHello’s line of products; to connect loved ones near and far through innovative technology.
Our free mobile app VoiceShare is the perfect solution for involving friends and family in your holiday traditions even if they cannot physically be there. Anyone, anywhere can record messages (whether it be a Christmas carol or beloved holiday story) to play through our BellyBuds baby bump speakers or SoundBub Bluetooth speaker/ white noise soother. The result will be a virtual family reunion right in your home. Your little ones can meet those closest to you even if separated by a thousand miles.
Mom and blogger Sarah from This Mama Life did just that while pregnant for the second time. She met her now husband in the Middle East when he was stationed with the Royal Navy and she was visiting a friend. What was supposed to be a holiday romance stretched to seven years, and the two are now happily expecting their second child.
“It took us a while to conceive our daughter so we thought it would take a while this time but nope, it happened pretty much first time. We couldn’t believe it!”
During this pregnancy, Sarah and her husband are forced to spend time apart while he is deployed. She decided to purchase BellyBuds to play voice messages from Dad to baby-to-be in the womb. Babies in the womb develop the ability to hear at 20 weeks of pregnancy, and have been shown to remember sounds heard in the womb after they are born.
“I saw BellyBuds featured on social media and thought it would be a great idea whilst my husband is deployed for six months abroad. I was so worried about the baby not knowing his voice and not realizing who he was, so it sounded like a great way of keeping him involved in the day-to-day part of pregnancy” explains Sarah.
We are so honored that Sarah was able to use BellyBuds to connect her husband to baby-to-be while he was deployed.
At WavHello, we are on a mission to connect families. That’s why we released our free VoiceShare app that allows anyone, anywhere record messages to share with baby and with each other. VoiceShare can be especially handy for the holidays; have family who can’t make the trip record a message and play throughout the Holiday season to keep them close.

]]>This week, co-founder of WavHello Curtis Williams and wife Jama travelled to Amazon to share the inspiration story behind our SoundBub Bluetooth speaker and white noise machine. It all started after the birth of the couple's second daughter, Roma, when Jama realized that the only way to soothe her daughter and keep her entertained on-the-go was to give up her phone; not ideal if you want to keep your device in tact. So Curtis set out to solve the problem - create a portable speaker that played white noise for nap time and music from your phone via Bluetooth for playtime. Of course, it all had to come in a child-friendly package made with chew safe materials so that it could survive for the long haul. Soon afterwards, our SoundBub speaker was created as WavHello's second (and most adorable!) product.
On Black Friday and Cyber Monday you can snag our SoundBub speaker on Amazon for 40% Off during our special lightning deals! Here's the schedule so you don't miss out on the lowest price of the season:
If you don't know us, WavHello is a company set on making products that connect families through technology. During his wife’s pregnancy with their first child, Curtis was inspired to find a unique way to connect with their baby in utero and soon after, WavHello’s first product, BellyBuds, was born (along with his daughter, Adeline).
