Tis’ the season to be jolly or crafty because why not? Who doesn’t love some great crafting especially DIY’s that you can hang on to for you little ones to give them down the road. There is something about Christmas time and reminiscing on old crafts you made as a kid or an ornament that you made in a class when you were little to gift to your parents. It’s magical when those memories flood back to you when you hold those in your hand. That is why we decided to create 5 of our favorite holiday ornament crafts that will create memories for years to come.
Now grab your hot cocoa and let’s go.
Buy a set of glass bulbs, or plastic (kids am I right), brown paint and red paint, and a sharpie and your set.
- Lightly brush the brown paint on your little one's thumb and then lightly press it onto the bulb lift and let dry. Next, take the red paint and add a small circle for a nose. Last use the sharpie to add antlers and eyes. We love this idea to gift to friends and family, they are great keepsakes for years to come.
Salt Dough Ornaments
These are a classic. Using this salt dough recipe you can create a cute little Santa and Reindeer with your child's' hand and footprint. These are a great way to preserve those tiny little hands and feet.
Ribbon Christmas Tree
How cute are these little stick trees? These are super easy and can help your kids get used to tying knots!
- Gather sticks of various sizes you can always cut them down and then buy a variety of ribbons to tie onto the stick. Use longer pieces of ribbons for the bottom of the stick and get smaller as you go up and viola you have a ribbon tree.
*Pro Tip you can also use cinnamon sticks instead of a stick for these trees!
Mason Jar Wreaths
We all have a couple of these in our kitchen drawers. Repurpose your mason jar lids into the perfect holiday wreath. Use different ribbons or rope to make yours even more special to hang on your tree.
Wood Slice Santa Ornaments
Buy or make wood slices for these ornaments. These are a classic Santa face ornament for your tree. Buy red, white and black to use to paint the hat, eyes, and beard. Adding a red pom-pom as the nose is a super cute option!
We hope you love these handcrafted ornaments to make with your little ones as much as we do. Give these as gifts or keep them for the years to come. The holidays are always best spent with the ones you love doing things you love. Happy Holidays from everyone at WavHello!
